Management and Leadership Coaching
Developing leadership and management ability
When you really get down to it, not many people really understand themselves; what triggers them and why they react to certain things. Coaching gives new perspectives on self, leadership and managing teams, as well as useful tools that remain with you long after. Sessions bring lasting change and growing emotional intelligence and agility and flexibility in behaviours.
We have been coaching managers and senior leaders for over 15 years and understand the demands on those in management and leadership positions within universities are increasing rapidly. Our coaching prepares leaders, managers and teams at universities to adapt to a rapidly changing landscape.
Coaching to help:
- Prioritise and manage time and complex projects better
- Deal with change and uncertainty
- Communicate with more influence
- Handle conflict and be assertive
- Develop confidence and emotional intelligence
Coaching approach
We create an environment where there is the time, structure and confidence to think about the important things that get sidelined with day-to-day demands. Our role as a coach is to draw out expertise through inquiry and challenges, give clarity of goals and the motivation to achieve them and support the the identification of key behaviours to increase leadership effectiveness.
Case Study
Coaching sessions at the University of Brighton
As part of the University of Brighton The Green Growth Platform provides green businesses with the support they need to take them to the next level. In 2018 funding was won to expand the offering with the creation of Clean Growth UK to catalyse clean and green innovation nationally through access to university expertise and facilities, commercialisation and investment readiness support. Led by the Green Growth Platform this initiative in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University and the University of Portsmouth’s Greentech South brings together three successful green business innovation hubs.
The expansion and rapid upsizing of the offering really stretched the management team at Clean Growth. Sine 2017 we have provided regular coaching to Clean Growth director Zoe Osborne and key members of the management team as they got to grips with expanding roles, taking on new staff, mapping and implementing this complex project and working against tight timescales.
What they said:
“The coaching has really helped my development as a leader and manager in a practical sense. I have had several coaching sessions with Toby which have produced positive and useful results, quickly. I like the way that coaching focuses on the main issues being faced and uncovers easy to implement practical solutions to these. Those dreaded knotty problems became easy to deal with – very refreshing and surprising. Toby is a really nice to work with; friendly, down to earth and relaxed in his style but also very knowledgeable about coaching techniques and management tools.”
